Life
New city
I recently moved to London after living in Bristol for almost a decade. I wanted a change and I'm looking forward to experiencing what the big city has to offer.
Yearly Theme
My theme for 2024 is fitnesshow original. I've been running regularly since the start of the year and doing strength training at the gym.
Travel
- ๐ฌ๐ท Athens and Delphi, Greece: I recently got a little obsessed with Ancient Greek mythology and culture, and decided to go visit Athens and Delphi.
- ๐ง๐ช Brussels, Belgium: I represented Luanti (formerly known as Minetest) at FOSDEM 24.
- ๐ซ๐ท Nรฎmes, France: we chose to go here because of the Roman history, the amphitheatre is pretty cool.
- ๐ฉ๐ช Berlin and Hamburg, Germany: I went to Godotcon 24 in Berlin. I also went to Hamburg to see the Miniatur Wunderland
Career
I'm working as a mobile app developer for a software consultancy. My current project is using React Native but I was previously working on native Android apps.
I recently became a line manager. I'm still a software engineer - we don't have separate management, senior+ engineers are expected to manage others.
Hobby and Open Source
I have reduced the amount of time I spend on Luanti (Minetest) and other projects to focus more on life goals.
When I do have spare time, I'm learning Godot and electronics. I'm currently working on an app to rate coffee, a plant watering system, and a few small Godot games.
I'm learning French using Duolingo. I'm approaching a one year streak.
Media
Video Games
- Lethal Company: This is a great game to play with a group of friends. It's surprisingly funny with organic comedic timing.
- Age of Empires II: I organised a LAN party this year with the same group of friends. Looking for some good games to play, we chose AoE II. We've been playing it online since.
- Assassin's Creed: Odyssey: I had a bit of an Ancient Greek obsession last year and ended up visiting Athens and Delphi. After I got back, I started playing AC Odyssey. It was quite interesting to see places I recognised adapted into their ancient forms. I just wish it wasn't Assassin's Creed!
